Mountain Workshop Stories Featured at Gateway Arts Center

Stories from the Mountain Workshop hosted in Montgomery County (Kentucky) during October 2018 are on display at the Gateway Regional Arts Center (GRAC) in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. One picture and summary are featured for each story. John Ward was a participant as the subject for a story captured in photos by Alexander Volberding. John's story was titled Living Double, highlighting his second career as an artist.

Kentucky artist John Ward recently attended Kentucky author Eddie Price's book signing of One Drop -- A Slave! at Winchester's library. John's artwork is featured on the book cover and John was on hand to sign prints of Paddle Wheeler if customers desired to purchase a companion item to Mr. Price's book. Prints are available of Paddle Wheeler.

John Ward's Art Decorates Peoples Bank of Kentucky's New Mt. Sterling Office

John Ward was in attendance at Peoples Bank of Kentucky's Grand Opening of their new location in Mt. Sterling on December 10th. The bank sought to adorn their new building with artwork representing Mt. Sterling and surrounding areas. A total of eighteen (18) of John's images were used throughout the building including the main lobby, offices, hallways, and teller station. Some of the images includes Hereford Autumn, Old Rusty, Goddard White Covered Bridge, Deep in Tradition, and many more.

Sponsored by Western Kentucky University, the Mountain Workshops held their 43rd annual workshop in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky during the week of Oct. 22, 2018. In addition to the students participating in the program, WKU faculty members were joined by volunteer shooting, editing, and writing coaches who traveled from across the country to participate in the program.

John Ward was selected to be one of the stories for the workshop and worked with photojournalist Alexander Volberding. It was an exciting and interesting process to have John's life documented in photos including capturing John's life at work and home.

John Ward Illustrates Cover of "One Drop -- A Slave!" by Eddie Price

Kentucky artist John Ward partnered with Eddie Price, Kentucky author, to illustrate the cover of Mr. Price's new release titled One Drop -- A Slave!, released in February 2018. The book is a sequel to Mr. Price's popular book, Widder's Landing. Over Labor Day weekend, Eddie and John attended the Pioneer Festival in Winchester, Kentucky where those purchasing Mr. Price's book had the rare opportunity to have both the author (Eddie) and illustrator (John) sign their copies.

John Ward's painting titled Buggy Ride was accepted into the 2014 American Academy of Equine Art fall exhibition. The AAEA is a highly selective national juried exhibition. He has been offered an Associate Membership with this prestigious group! John Ward's Buggy Ride is an oil painting featuring an Amish horse drawn buggy with serene rolling farmland in the background.

Kentucky artist John Ward was selected by the highly selective American Academy of Equine Art to exhibit his artwork, Beauty at Bennett's Mill, in their 2012 Fall Open Juried Exhibition. John's work will be included in the exhibit from September 14 - October 24, 2012 at the Scott County Arts and Cultural Center/Gallery located in Georgetown, Kentucky.
