Out of the top 12 designs selected to be considered for the Kentucky State Quarter, two of these designs belonged to John Ward.
John was recognized for his assistance to the Kentucky 2001 Quarter Committee and the United States Mint in the Kentucky coin design process. John's ideas assisted in the formulation of the final design of the Kentucky 2001 Quarter. John received recognition at the Kentucky Quarter unveiling on October 18, 2001, at My Old Kentucky Home in Bardstown, Kentucky.
